In the coming year, I will be teaching...
- Fall 2010
- PHY 102: Elements of Physics I
- PHY 210: Modern Physics
- FYS 150: First Year Seminar on Understanding Climate Change
- Spring 2011
- PHY 102: Elements of Physics II
- PHY 311: Laboratory Physics
For information on courses that I have taught in the past, the tab on the left contains course descriptions and sample syllabi.
I have recently discovered Project Kaleidoscope (PKAL), which is a fantastic group dedicated to bringing STEM educators together to discuss and improve STEM education. I strongly recommend everyone interested in STEM education become involved with your local chapter.
There is a great compilation of physics education tools and research online called ComPADRE. Anyone who is interested in physics should check this website out. There are links to many of the applets I also list below, but they also have descriptions and reviews of all these tools.
Some interesting links to groups doing physics education research and context based learning:
- Colorado School of Mines - Studio Learning Environment
- Physics 100 Online - Context rich learning for online classes
- Physics Education Research at CU Boulder
Some interesting sites for cool applets and Physics simulations:
- PhET - Lots of very cool physics simulations
- Physics and Math
- Relatvity - Great simulation for special relativity
